Collinsvale dogs update
As a result of media attention given to the deaths of two dogs found in Collinsvale 7 March 2012 a male person called police identifying himself as the person responsible for the deaths.
Police have spoken to this person and ascertained that the dogs had been attacking chickens on his property. The male advised police that he could not stop the attacks on his chickens. To prevent further loss and suffering to his animals, he shot the two (2) dogs.
Legislation allows for a person to destroy dogs found attacking another animal. Police will not be proceeding with charges against this person.
The owner of the dogs was spoken to about the incident.
Police remind owners of dogs that they are required to ensure that dogs cannot roam freely. Further, if any person finds a dog attacking animals or persons, police ask that they consider notifying Police or the local council in the first instance.
