Cliff Rescue – 15 year old girl at Wynyard

At approximately 1.00 pm today 22/2/2014 Ambulance Tasmania responded to a call of a 15 year old girl who had fallen down a 15m vertical embankment on a walking track close to the end of Gibbons Street, Wynyard.

Police, Tas Fire Service and SES personnel attended the scene with Ambulance Tasmania and a coordinated rescue of the young Wynyard girl took place.  A local Wynyard boater assisted launching his boat and bringing the injured girl and rescuing personnel to shore where the girl could be further treated by paramedics  before being taken to the North West Regional Hospital for medical care. 

The injuries to the young girl were not life threatening.

The girl fell when she lost her footing whilst using a rope swing above the Inglis River.

Police thank all involved in this rescue.
