Clarendon Vale incident – update

Police specialists have examined the item located in Clarendon Vale this morning as a precaution and confirmed there was no threat to public safety at any stage.

A 36 year old Clarendon Vale man who was located at the scene is in custody and is currently assisting police with their enquiries.

Police were called to Clarendon Vale Primary School car park about 7.40am after a suspicious package was located.

Police reassure the community that there is no threat to members of the public, and the school was not a target. However, the school advised students not to attend until later this morning as a precaution.

Acting Inspector Mark Burke said: “We are following a particular line of enquiry in relation to this matter, however members of the public can be assured that there is no threat to public safety.”
