Children injured in tree fall


At 1652 hours, 27 March 2011, Tasmania Ambulance advised Tasmania Police they were sending seven (7) ambulances to a private residence at Conningham Road, Conningham.  The ambulance service had been advised that a number of children had fallen from a tree after a tree branch broke.

Kingston Police attended the incident and it was established that twelve (12) children all aged 12 years had fallen approximately 10 metres when a tree branch broke on a tree they were climbing.

Nine (9) children have been taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital.  Three children have neck and back injuries.  One child has a broken leg, the other five (5) children have suspect fractures of either ankles/wrists.  The injuries are not life threatening.
