Chemist Robber Arrest
On Monday 24 September 2012 Southern District CIB’s conducted investigations into an armed robbery that occurred around 9.30am at the Friendly Care Chemmart Pharmacy situated on Hopkins Street in Moonah.
As a result of those investigations, a 31 year old male from Rokeby was taken into custody late yesterday afternoon.
The vast majority of the prescription medication stolen during the armed robbery has been recovered by police, as has the weapon involved.
The man was also questioned in regards to three (3) other armed robberies which had occurred at Chemmart Pharmacies on 20 June 2012, 5 July 2012, and 20 July 2012. The first and second had occurred at their New Town Road pharmacy, and the third at their Hopkins Street Moonah pharmacy.
He has been formally charged with four (4) counts of armed robbery.
He will be appearing in the Hobart Magistrates Court later this afternoon.
