Charity Trust assists Special Olympics Tasmania

Tasmania Police members have put their collective heads together to raise money for Special Olympics Tasmania.

The recent Tasmania Police Charity Trust Quiz Night raised $2500 for Special Olympics Tasmania.  Members of the Southern Special Olympics softball team will attend a cheque presentation today.

The quiz night is held annually to raise funds specifically for Special Olympics Tasmania, to help develop and maintain its programs.  This year’s event was attended by 110 police officers, family and friends.

Since 2009, the Tasmania Police Charity Trust has contributed nearly $10,000 to Special Olympics Tasmania.

The softball team is coached by Trish Webb and competes in the Southern Tasmania Softball Association league each Saturday at SoftballPark.

Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic type sports for children and adults with an intellectual disability.
