Charges over dive shop fire
Hobart Detectives have charged a 40 year old Lauderdale man with Arson in relation to a fire which destroyed the ‘Dive Shop’ in Elizabeth Street North Hobart on Saturday 2 April this year.
The fire which occurred just after lunch on that day was noticed by passers-by and caused extensive damage to the building and contents and destroyed property to an estimated value of $400,000.
The retail business was closed at the time and police had been treating the fire as suspicious.
The man has been bailed to appear in the Hobart Magistrate’s Court on 6 June 2011.
