On 28 March 2011 at about 1.30pm police attended a report of an attempted bag snatching in the Cmax car park, Formby Road, Devonport.

Police apprehended a male youth from Launceston in Victoria Parade shortly after.  The youth was interviewed by police and charged with Attempted Stealing.  He was further charged with eight counts of Stealing which relate to a number of incidents around the Devonport CBD over the past week.

The youth will be dealt with under the Youth Justice legislation.

Police would like to speak with the female involved and urge anyone who witnessed the incident to contact the Devonport Police Station on 03 6421 7511.
