Charges over armed robbery

Eastern District Detectives have today arrested and charged a person over the armed robbery of the United Service Station at Rosny on 29 June this year.

A 36-year-old male from Warrane was arrested this morning by Detectives from the Eastern CIB.  He was charged with one count of armed robbery and was held to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court later in the day.

“The Tasmanian Community will not tolerate these sorts of crimes and are becoming more prepared to provide information to Police to assist with identifying offenders,” said Detective Senior Sergeant Cameron Bessell.

“Tasmania Police place the highest priority on the prevention and detection of serious crime and will allocate resources accordingly in order to fully investigate these matters.”

Police allege the male acted alone when he entered the service station and threatened the attendant with a knife.  The male left with an undisclosed amount of money.

“Police would like to thank the public for their assistance and information provided in relation to the armed robbery and renew their request for anyone with information on any further matters to contact Crime stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
