Charges over Aggravated Armed Robbery
About 9.30am Tuesday 27 March 2012 two men were walking north along Hobart Road near the Kings Meadows Hotel when they saw a red Toyota Lexen pull up near them.
The men crossed the road and the occupants of the car called out to them. One of the men ran off and the car pulled up next to the victim near the Caltex Service Station. One offender from the vehicle was holding a shotgun and threatened the complainant that he would assault him if he didn’t hand over his money. The second offender demanded his wallet and then they both took his money and mobile phone.
The offenders then drove off. Police apprehended a 19 year old man in Prospect and a 17 year old youth later in Newstead with the shotgun.
Both were interviewed Wednesday morning and charged with Aggravated Armed Robbery and detained for court at 2.15pm Wednesday 28 March 2012.
Launceston Criminal Investigation Branch is appealing for any further information regarding the robbery or the red Toyota Lexen used by the offenders.
