Charges – Methamphetamine and Cocaine seizure at Hobart Airport
During routine searches conducted yesterday, by members of the Tasmania Police Drug Dog Handling Unit, two men were apprehended at the Hobart International Airport with trafficable quantities of both methamphetamine and cocaine.
A 36 year old man from Redan in Victoria was found to have 260 grams of methamphetamine and 134 grams of cocaine secreted in his clothing. The street value of these drugs is estimated to be in excess of $170,000.
A 26 year old man from Mowbray in Tasmania was found to have 214 grams of methamphetamine and 128 grams of cocaine secreted in his clothing. The street value of these drugs is estimated to be in excess of $145,000.
Both men were detected disembarking a flight direct from Sydney.
The man from Victoria has been charged with trafficking in controlled drugs and obtaining an airline ticket under a false name.
The man from Tasmania has been charged with trafficking in controlled drugs.
Both men have been detained and will appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court on Friday 24 August 2018.
