During the afternoon of Sunday 19 December 2010 two males were riding their trail bikes at Carlton when another person has fired a small calibre rifle at them.

Both riders were hit in the leg once each, with one receiving minor injuries.

The suspect was arrested by police and his firearm and ammunition were seized.   A 67 year old Carlton man has been charged with wounding, aggravated assault x 2 and firearms offences arising from the incident. He was bailed to appear in court at a later date.
