A 35 year old Chigwell man will appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court this morning in relation to a serious assault on a two year old child.

Police charged the man with Grievous Bodily Harm on Friday 18 January; he appeared in an out of hours court session and was remanded in custody to reappear this morning.

Police were called to investigate after the child was admitted to the Royal Hobart Hospital on Tuesday 15 January with a number of injuries including a fractured leg, fractured shoulder, fractured ribs and bruising.
