Cataract Gorge Incident
Police were called to an incident today at the Cataract Gorge in Launceston after a 16 year old boy got his leg trapped in rocks whilst attempting to cross the South Esk River.
The boy was trying to cross the river by scrambling over the rocks when he slipped and his left foot became stuck.
Police and ambulance services attended, the boy was rescued and did not require medical attention.
Sgt Glenn Evans, of Launceston Police, said that it was a timely reminder to take extra care around water.
“As the warmer months approach Tasmania Police ask everyone to take care around the water this year and take an active interest in their own safety,” Sgt Evans said.
