Car crashes into house
At approximately 10.05 am today 7/5/12, a 85 year old Smithton woman was driving from a unit she had visited in Emmett Street through the shared driveway.
She has clipped the side of a Winnebago motor home, then appears to have accelerated into the corner of a unit which caused significant structural damage.
The driver received some minor abrasions to her arm and attended hospital for a medical examination.
The occupant of the unit was not home at the time of the collision.
A woman from a neighbouring unit who witnessed the accident, was treated at the scene for shock and also attended the hospital for observations.
The vehicle involved, a Toyota Yaris had been recently purchased by the driver and it appears that the unfamiliar positioning of controls may have contributed to the cause of the collision.
Smithton Police are investigating.
