Cape Barren Island
Tasmania Police has been working with the Aboriginal community to address the issues facing the Cape Barren Island community.
“Last month, Inspector John King, the officer in charge of the North East Division, including Cape Barren Island, spoke with Mr Michael Mansell to discuss an approach to work together to assist the community,” said Commander Richard Cowling.
“An agreed strategy was developed at that meeting, including encouraging Cape Barren Island residents to report issues to police,” said Mr Cowling.
The strategy also included providing additional policing services from Flinders Island.
“Two police officers stationed on nearby Flinders Island are committed to additional visits to Cape Barren Island,” said Mr Cowling.
“We are committed to continue working with the Cape Barren community to assist with crime and public order issues.”
