Business Burglaries Queenstown/Zeehan

At approximately 12.50am this morning (Friday 10th June 2011) Queenstown police were alerted to two males who had gained entry to the Queenstown Child Care centre. The males fled the scene in a stolen red 2000 model Ford XR6 sedan.

The vehicle was later sighted in Zeehan and the two males are believed responsible for burglaries at 3 businesses in Main Street, Zeehan.

Police located the vehicle on the Murchison Highway past Tullah and it was successfully intercepted with the deployment of road spikes. Police recovered a significant quantity of stolen property from the burgled local businesses in the vehicle.

The two male offenders fled into bushland and a large scale search is currently underway for them.

The two males are described as follows:

– First male approximately 185cm tall, large solid build wearing a dark hooded top

– Second male approximately 175cm, slim build, goatee beard, wearing a dark top.

A large number of police have been deployed to locate the males. The search and rescue helicopter was also deployed and assisted in the search for the two males.

Police would ask members of the public that if sighted, not to approach these males and report their whereabouts immediately to Police or call 131 444.

Queenstown police and Burnie CIB are continuing to conduct enquiries and investigations are continuing.
