Business burglaries increase in Mornington and Cambridge Park
Bellerive CIB is concerned at the number of burglaries taking place in the Mornington and Cambridge Park industrial areas.
The majority of the matters are taking place overnight with no particular pattern of behaviour that identifies any individual as being responsible. Cash on premises has been the main target of the crimes, although smaller items like laptop computers are also being stolen.
Business owners are being asked to assess their current security levels on their businesses and consider if upgrades are required. It appears many burglaries are taking place as a result of less than adequate security on doors and windows. Businesses are also holding cash on premises that has not been adequately secured.
The affordability of security systems has improved and monitored alarms or those that send messages to business owners are a deterrent, along with CCTV systems. CCTV systems are offering valuable avenues of investigation to Police and businesses are encouraged to invest in their installation.
Bellerive CIB has a particular interest in a vehicle observed near a series of burglaries at Cambridge on the evening of 25 September 2013. The vehicle appears to be a champagne or light brown coloured 1990’s 3 series BMW sedan. Any information on this vehicle should be forwarded to Crime Stoppers or directly to the Bellerive CIB on 6230 2840.
