At 11:30am on Sunday 13/12/15 Tasmania Police Search and Rescue received a call for assistance from the Ironbound Range which is a section of the South Coast Walking Track.

A 16 year old female from Brisbane was on a school walking trip when she became very ill requiring urgent evacuation.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter flew to the scene, an Ambulance Tasmania paramedic treated the female, and she was winched from the location.

She was then taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital.
