Burns victim update

A 20 year old woman has shown improvement and regained consciousness for a short time in the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne after what police allege is a family violence incident on 24 April 2017.

 

The woman regained consciousness for a short time last night, but is now unconscious and remains in a critical condition.

 

The next of kin has asked for privacy until such a time as they are able to make a statement.  Media reports about the condition of the young woman should be restricted to official media releases by Tasmania Police.

 

The man accused of causing grievous bodily harm and other matters has been remanded in custody to appear in the Supreme Court on 13 June 2017.  He did not apply for bail.
