Burnie woman charged for driving while four times over the alcohol limit
Police yesterday charged a 37-year-old Burnie woman with drink driving offences after she was detected with a breath alcohol reading over four times the legal limit.
The woman was detected driving on Mount Street around 2:30am yesterday and returned a breath analysis reading of 0.227. She was disqualified for a period of 24 months and will appear before the court at a later date.
Police would like to remind motorists that have consumed alcohol either prior to driving or the night before to be careful when getting behind the wheel.
If you have consumed alcohol before you get behind the wheel of a vehicle, not only are you likely to exceed the legal alcohol limit of 0.05%, but you put yourself and other road users at risk of serious injury or death.
Tasmania Police conduct random alcohol and drug testing at all times during the day and night, and alcohol and drug testing will continue to be a focus in the lead up to the festive season – so please think carefully before you drive after consuming alcohol.
