At approximately 4.40pm this afternoon, Thursday 26 September 2019, a 26 year old Irishtown man who had escaped from the Burnie Police Station earlier this week was arrested by Burnie and Devonport CIB Detectives in a vehicle at the Spirit of Tasmania terminal in Devonport.

Also arrested at the time was a 58 year old Burnie man who was in company with the escapee.  That man has been charged with Harbouring an Escaped prisoner and bailed to appear at the Burnie CPS on the 12^th of November 2019.

The escapee remains in police custody and will appear in the Burnie CPS on Friday morning 27 September 2019, where he will face charges relating, and subsequent to, the Escape incident together with his original charge for which he was arrested on warrant.

Police would like to thank members of the public who provided valuable information and who assisted with their enquiries through the course of the investigation to locate and take the escapee back into custody.
