The PV Van Dieman has recovered a body from the water in the Port Davey area.

This morning a fishing vessel reported to police that it had located what appeared to be a body some distance offshore from South West Cape.

The Van Dieman was deployed to the area at 10am this morning and recovered the body late this afternoon.

The Police Westpac Rescue Helicopter was also deployed to search the area, but without any further result.

The families of the two fishermen who went missing last month have been informed by police.

The Coroner has also been advised.
