Body located at Mt Roland
Tasmania Police have today located the body of a woman on Mt Roland in the State’s North-West.
The death of the woman, from interstate, is being treated as suspicious. A man, also from interstate, is in police custody.
The woman had been reported missing this morning and the Westpac Police Rescue Helicopter was used to locate her body just after 2pm on a track some 200 metres from the summit.
Her family has been informed.
Investigating officer, Inspector Kim Steven said:
“Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones at this extremely sad time.
“While a man is in custody, we still need to build an exact picture of what took place and are appealing for anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area to come forward.”
No charges have been laid and investigations are continuing.
There will be no further comment while investigations continue tonight.
