Blackmans Bay man charged with drug trafficking
Police have charged a 38-year-old Blackmans Bay man with drug trafficking following continued investigations into the largest seizure of methylamphetamine and cocaine in Tasmania’s history.
Significant quantities of methylamphetamine (3kg) and cocaine (4kg) were seized in December last year, after police intercepted a vehicle and vessel at Rocky Cape in the state’s north west.
Two men, aged 34 from Elderslie and aged 40 from Swansea, were arrested and charged at the time.
Following continued investigations, police from the Southern Drugs and Firearms Unit arrested the man from Blackmans Bay this morning.
A search warrant was executed at his address, and 10 firearms were seized.
He was bailed and will appear in court in May.
