Bendigo Bank armed robbery update
Devonport CIB is continuing its investigation in relation to the armed robbery committed at the Bendigo Bank at Ulverstone on Monday 13 September 2010. Investigators are following a particular line of enquiry, but have not located the man responsible.
As a result of assistance received from the public, police believe that the offender ran from Reibey Street through a laneway and into the Coles car park. From there he ran in the direction of the McDonalds food outlet.
If anyone observed the man in the Ulverstone area, either before or after the robbery, they are requested to contact the Ulverstone Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. The robbery was committed about 9.15am.
Similarly, if anyone can identify the man and/or know of his current whereabouts, they are requested to contact Tasmania Police at the earliest available opportunity. The public is reminded that the offender may still be in possession of the shotgun used in the robbery and advised not to approach him.
Police are also investigating a possible link between the robbery and a burglary that was committed at a farm shed situated off the Murchison Highway at Yolla. The burglary was committed between Thursday 9 September and Monday 13 September 2010 and resulted in two firearms being stolen from a locked gun safe. One of the firearms was a shotgun. It is likely that the offender/s responsible for the burglary were travelling in a vehicle, so police would like to hear from any witness who may have observed a vehicle being driven in a suspicious manner in the Yolla area, between those dates, or who may have information concerning the burglary itself.
