Bass Highway crash, Deloraine
At 9.21am on Thursday the 9th of August 2012 Police were performing duties diverting traffic away from a Truck accident blocking the Bass Highway between the eastern and western entrances to Deloraine.
At this time an unoccupied police vehicle, a marked white holden commodore station wagon was parked in the west bound lane of the Bass Highway near the eastern entrance to Deloraine while police present directed vehicles away from the Truck crash scene.
The police vehicle was displaying flashing red and blue lights and an illuminated “road closed” sign.
At this time a ford utility failed to observe the police vehicle or the directions of the police officer present and collided into the rear of the police vehicle before coming to rest on its roof.
The 21 year old male Launceston driver was the only occupant of the ford ute at the time. Ambulance attended the accident however the male driver did not require any treatment. No police were injured as a result of the accident.
Both vehicles were required to be towed from the scene.
