Baby Death
On the evening of 2nd November 2012 a baby was presented to the North West Regional Hospital with a number of unexplained injuries. He was air-lifted to the Royal Hobart Hospital for ongoing treatment.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the injuries resulted in the charging of the baby’s father with Causing Grievous Bodily Harm and Ill-Treating a Child. He later appeared in Hobart court and was remanded in custody.
At approximately 9am this morning the baby died at the Royal Hobart Hospital.
Detective Senior Constable Scott Poke said “The death of the child is sad news and the investigation is now subject to a Coronial Investigation and continuing investigation by detectives from Western District and Hobart Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB).”
