Authorities Ensure Compliance at Hobart Licensed Venues
In a coordinated effort last night, authorities in Hobart conducted compliance checks at local licensed venues to ensure adherence to security regulations.
Acting Commander John Toohey reported that 19 venues and 39 security guards were inspected across Sandy Bay, Hobart, and North Hobart. “We are pleased to announce that all of the establishments and staff were compliant,” Acting Commander Toohey said.
“The operation took an educational approach, engaging with owners and staff to reinforce the responsibilities of security agents.”
“It was encouraging to see that all venues and personnel were adhering to the regulations.”
“Our primary goal as police is to ensure public safety, and initiatives like this are crucial in achieving that,” Acting Commander Toohey said.
Paul Cummins, Acting Director of Compliance at Consumer, Building and Occupational Services (CBOS), emphasised the importance of the Security and Investigations Agents Act 2002. “This legislation ensures that security agents and crowd controllers are properly licensed and maintain professional standards. Collaborative efforts like these help keep Hobart a safe and enjoyable place for everyone.”
Acting Director Cummins also highlighted the significance of such operations, especially during the busy festive season. “These checks provide an opportunity to ensure everyone understands and follows the rules, which is vital for maintaining safety and responsibility at licensed premises,” he said.
Further operations are planned throughout the festive season to continue promoting compliance and safety.
