Australia Day honours for two Tasmania Police officers
Two Tasmania Police officers will today be recognised in the Australia Day honours.
The Australian Police Medial will be awarded to Detective Senior Constable Robyn Button of Kingston and Inspector Laurie Huxley of Hobart for distinguished service to policing.
Detective Senior Constable Button has received several commendations in her 38-year career with Tasmania Police and is the longest serving female police officer in Tasmania.
Inspector Huxley, has also received several commendations and had a distinguished career with Tasmania Police spanning 36 years.
Commissioner of Police Darren Hine said:
“I would like to congratulate the two officers.
“Both are shining examples of professional and dedicated police officers.
“The honour of being awarded the APM is something that very few officers experience in their careers and the conduct of these two officers makes them very worthy recipients.”
Detective Senior Constable Button spent 10 years working at Kingston before joining the Hobart Criminal Investigation Branch. She has received several commendations for her persistence, skill and self-motivation in the way she conducts investigations.
Inspector Huxley has performed various roles during his years of service including uniform duties, Criminal Investigation Branch, Internal Investigations and a secondment to the Australian Federal Police to work in the Solomon Islands. He has received commendations for his leadership and professionalism.
