A 23 year-old Gunns Plains man injured in an ATV crash at Arthur River on Saturday 9/2/2013 died in the Royal Hobart Hospital last night (13/2/2013).

The man was riding an ATV south along Arthur River Beach at around 5:45pm when the crash occurred. The ATV hit a washout on the beach, causing the rider and passenger to be thrown from the machine. The passenger received only minor injuries, however the rider sustained a major head injury and was airlifted to the Royal Hobart Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.

Neither man was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
