Attempted murder charges laid – car fire
A 49 year old Burnie man was today formally charged with offences arising from the car fire which occurred at 133 Woniora Road, Shorewell Park on the early evening of 5 December 2012.
In a bedside sitting of the Hobart Magistrates Court conducted at the Royal Hobart Hospital, Paul Brian Edward Connelly was charged with two counts of Attempted Murder and two counts of Grievous Bodily Harm.
Connelly was remanded in custody to appear again in the Hobart Magistrates Court on January 23, 2013.
He remains in hospital in a serious condition.
The two boys aged 8 and 5, to which the charges relate who were also injured in the incident, remain in a serious but stable condition in the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne.
