Attempted armed robbery at fast food outlet
Shortly after 12am 8 March 2011 a person went to McDonalds at Kings Meadows with a firearm. After trying to enter the restaurant unsuccessfully through the locked external doors the person tapped the glass with the barrel of the firearm and pointed at staff to open the door.
Staff reacted by moving quickly to a safe area at the rear of the cooking area and contacted police.
The person left the area after the unsuccessful attempt to rob the restaurant.
Offender described as being 155cm, slim build, wearing blue baggy jeans, black skate shoes, and blue / grey long sleeve jumper.
Launceston CIB detectives attended the scene soon after and investigations are continuing to identify the offender.
