Attempted Aggravated Robbery – Launceston CBD
Tasmania Police are currently investigating an attempted aggravated robbery which occurred about 3pm on Wednesday 29 July 2020 whereby a 33-year-old man was approached by two young males whilst at Princes Square in Launceston. The males demanded cash from the victim before assaulting him. The victim managed to flee however was again approached by the same males in the Brisbane Street Mall near the bus interchange area. The males again demanded cash, before one of them struck him to the face with a glass bottle causing non-life-threatening injuries. The victim was transported by ambulance to Launceston General Hospital for treatment.
Members from Launceston Uniform attended the scene and investigations are ongoing.
The suspects are described as follows
Male A – aged about 14 years, caucasion, about 165cm, blonde/brown hair wearing a white hoodie (over his head) and long pants.
Male B – aged about 15 years, caucasion, around 175cm, brown hair, chunky build wearing a green or blue coloured hooded jumper.
Police would like to reassure the public that this appears to be an isolated incident.
