Attempted Aggravated Robbery Charges Laid
Late in the evening of Wednesday 28 September 2011 two women were accosted and attempts were made to take money from them.
The first woman was asked for money in Elizabeth Street near Liverpool Street by two women. When the woman declined to provide any money she was slapped, punched and had her hair pulled. Her wallet was then taken and searched through, but no money was found by the two women.
A short time later in Harrington Street another woman was asked for money by the same two women, who then grabbed her handbag when she said she didn’t have any. A man intervened and was also assaulted by the two women. No money was obtained during this incident either.
Hobart Criminal Investigation Branch has charged a 20 year old Montrose woman with 2 counts of Attempted Aggravated Robbery and assault in relation to these matters. She was bailed with conditions to appear in the Hobart Court Petty Sessions in November.
Investigations are continuing with respect of the second woman who was involved in the attempted robberies.
