At approximately 11.15pm on Wednesday the 24^th of October 2012, residents in Katoomba Crescent Rosetta were alerted to a male attacking a number of ducks in a stream in a reserve area.   The male is alleged to have been armed with a wooden garden stake.   The residents confronted the 23 year old male and detained him prior to the arrival of Police.

The male was subsequently arrested and charged with offences under the Animal Welfare Act and was detained to appear at the Hobart Court of Petty Sessions later on Thursday the 25^th of October 2012.
