Arthur Highway Closure
Tasmania Police advise the Arthur Highway has been closed in the vicinity of Forcett and Dunalley due to the anticipated impact of a bushfire in the region.
It is expected the fire at Inala Road, Forcett, will impact on the Boomer Bay/Dunalley/Peninsula area this afternoon, making travel on the Arthur Highway in the area unsafe.
The closure will isolate the Tasman Peninsula. The closure will be reassessed as conditions ease.
People should also avoid the Stormlea area, near Nubeena, where a vegetation fire is burning.
The Tasmania Fire Service advises it is safe for people south of Dunalley on the Tasman Peninsula to remain in their homes or at their campsites, however they should remain aware of the developing situation by monitoring local radio or the TFS website.
For those who need assistance with accommodation, a Community Refuge Centre has been established at the Nubeena Civic Centre. Another Community Refuge Centre is established at the Sorell Memorial Hall for people who cannot return home.
TFS also remind people that a Total Fire Ban has been declared.
