At around 10:30am this morning (Wednesday, 7 December 2016) Emergency Services responded to a structure fire at the Peacock Centre, 10 Elphinstone Road, North Hobart.

The fire completed destroyed the building and was extinguished by the Tasmania Fire Service.

Damage is estimated to be valued at approximately 2 million dollars.

No person was seriously injured as a result of the fire.

Police have charged a 53 year old man from Moonah with Attempted Murder and Arson.

The man has been detained to appear in court on 8 December 2016.
