At 10.50pm Sunday 13 January 2013 Tasmania Police and Tasmania Fire Service attended the unit complex at 40 Pioneer Parade Ravenswood in relation to a fire.

The fire caused considerable damage to a unit at the complex and an investigation commenced into the cause.

As a result it has been deemed to have been deliberately lit and Launceston CIB detectives have taken carriage of the investigation.

The unit is normally occupied but the tenants were not inside at the time and there have been no injuries as a result of the fire.
