Arson – Goodwood Road
Glenorchy CIB is investigating a deliberately lit fire at a property in Goodwood Road, Goodwood, today.
In April 2017, two houses were forfeited to the Crown, pursuant to Unexplained Wealth Legislation introduced in 2014.
The two properties were located at 23 Fourth Avenue in West Moonah, and 5 Goodwood Road in Goodwood.
On 21 June, police attended to a deliberately lit house fire at 23 Fourth Avenue, which is still under investigation.
A month later on 21 July, police attended to a deliberately lit house fire at 5 Goodwood Road.
Police say the two matters appear linked and targeted.
It appears the most recent fire occurred overnight last night and accelerants were used.
The house was vacant at the time and no furnishings or property were present.
Initial value of damage is estimated at $200,000.
Tasmania Police Forensics Services and Tasmania Fire Service Fire Scene Examiners have completed initial examinations, and Glenorchy CIB are continuing their investigations.
