At about 12am Friday 28 January 2011 a Housing Services Tasmania dwelling at Goose Green Place Longford was destroyed by fire.  The cost of the damage estimated at $190 000.

The fire was deemed to have been deliberately lit by Tasmania Fire Service investigators and Launceston Criminal Investigation (CIB) initiated an investigation.

On Friday 4 February 2011 Launceston CIB charged a 32 year old Longford woman with arson for burning the house down.  She will appear in the Launceston Court of Petty Sessions in April 2011.
