At approximately 12:45am on Wednesday 4^th July 2012, Tasmania Police discovered a house fire at Wilson Place, Herdsmans Cove. Tasmania Fire Service (TFS) responded and Fire Officers extinguished the fire soon after arrival. 

The residence is the property of Housing Tasmania, which had been vacant for approximately one week. 

The cause of the fire is suspicious and the premises sustained extensive fire damage.  Damage is estimated at $80,000.

Eastern District Criminal Investigation Branch is investigating the fire with the assistance of Police Forensics and TFS.

Housing Tasmania is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to the conviction of the person responsible.
