Arson at Brighton Army Barracks
At approximately 8.25pm on Monday 9 September 2013, Tasmania Fire Service, and Tasmania Police were alerted to a structure fire at the old Brighton Army Barracks, located on Menin Road Brighton.
On arrival, one of four buildings on the property was fully ablaze, and has been totally destroyed as a result of the fire. Other buildings have been vandalised, with damage, including smashed windows believed to have occurred sometime in the last ten days.
The building is privately owned and was unoccupied at the time of the fire; damage is estimated to be around $100,000 and the fire is being treated as suspicious.
Detectives at Bridgewater are appealing for assistance from members of the community who may have observed any suspicious activity or persons at the old Army Barracks.
