At approximately 5:10am this morning, a structure fire was observed at 6 Boronia Place in Gagebrook.

The Tasmania Fire Service (TFS) promptly attended and extinguished the fire, limiting damage to the dining room.

TFS conducted a scene examination and determined the fire was deliberately lit and cost of repairs estimated at $25,000.

Tasmania Police have commenced an investigation and a forensics examination has been conducted at the scene.

No residents were present during the fire and loss of contents belonging to the tenant are minimal.

The local community has assisted police with their inquiries, and police are investigating the potential connection of this fire to recent smaller fires in the surrounding public areas.
