Arrests – vehicles destroyed by fire
Detectives from Glenorchy CIB, and officers from Glenorchy Uniform have been investigating a series of vehicle fires that occurred within the Glenorchy policing division between 8:00pm and 9:30pm on Sunday 27 April.
A total of 5 motor vehicles were destroyed by fire, two in the Lutana area and three in the suburb of Glenorchy. Investigations reveal another attempt was made to set fire to a vehicle in Coleman Street, Glenorchy.
Members of Glenorchy and Hobart CIB, along with Uniform officers from various areas of the Southern Police District, arrested three people in the New Town area after a vehicle evaded police, yesterday.
Two men have been interviewed and charged in relation to the car fires on the 27th April 2014. They have been remanded in custody and will appear in court today.They will be charged with a series of crimes and offences, including unlawfully set fire to property, attempting to unlawfully set fire to property and multiple counts of burglary and stealing. Further charges are expected to be lodged with the courts at a later date.
The men charged are a 21 year old from Goodwood and a youth aged 17 years year old from Gagebrook.
