Arrest of 17 year old alleged escapee at New Town
A 17 year old who reportedly escaped custody of a private security agency in Glenorchy last month has been arrested and will appear in court today.
The youth had been remanded in custody at the Hobart Magistrates Court, and allegedly escaped while being conveyed to the Ashley Detention Centre by a private company on 23 April.
Between that date and today, multiple searches have been conducted by Tasmania Police to locate and arrest the escapee.
As a result of searches conducted, the youth was located and arrested at an address in New Town in the early hours of this morning.
He has been formally charged with the escape and multiple other charges regarding offences committed whilst avoiding apprehension and will appear before the Hobart Magistrates Court later today.
