At approximately 8pm on Tuesday 9^th April 2013 a male has been disturbed by a guest in a hostel room at the Launceston Backpackers.  The male has fled from the hostel and guests have given chase to a near by street.

The male has then threatened the guests with a syringe prior to running from the area. No guests were injured in the incident.

Soon after police located a 41 year old Launceston male nearby and placed him under arrest. 

The male has been detained for a Launceston Magistrates Court on Wednesday 10^th April 2013.
