Update: 10am Monday 23 July 2012.

A 37 year old man was charged with Armed Robbery, Attempted Armed Robbery and on a separate matter, 3 counts of Assault.  He appeared in an out of hours court sitting in Launceston last night.

On Sunday the 22^nd of July 2012 at approximately 12:05am, police responded to a report of an Armed Robbery in the LAFM Car park located on York Street, Launceston.

It was alleged that a male in his mid 30’s threatened two male persons who had just concluded work at a near by restaurant with a knife.  The male in his mid 30’s stole an amount of cash from the males before leaving the area on foot.

Investigations were undertaken by Launceston Uniform and Northern CIB officers in regards to the incident and a male person was arrested a short time later in the Launceston CBD in regards to the Armed Robbery.  The male person is currently in police custody and investigations into the matter are continuing.
