Armed Robbery Elwick Hotel Glenorchy

Glenorchy Detectives are currently investigating an armed robbery committed on the Elwick Hotel Glenorchy in the early hours of this morning, Tuesday 25 September 2012.

Around 3.30am two men wearing dark clothing and their faces covered with balaclavas entered the Hotel and threatened staff with “sawn off firearms”.

In addition to the balaclavas the men wore hooded jackets and gloves.  Detective Inspector Plumpton states “There is no doubt the men were well prepared and had planned the robbery”.

There were no patrons in the Hotel at the time.

Staff gave the offenders cash from the tills and both men ran from the premises.

Detective Inspector Plumpton will be available later in the day for a media opportunity if required.  Additionally any CCTV footage of the robbery will be provided at this time.
