Armed Robbery – Claremont Bottleshop

Just before 7.30 pm on Friday 27 July 2018 a man with his face concealed entered the Claremont Hotel Bottle Shop, Main Road, Claremont. The male was armed with a shortened gun and demanded money from staff before leaving the bottleshop with cash.

The man is described as being approximately 180cm tall, medium to solid build with short/shaved hair, wearing a black long sleeve top, black trackpants, black runners and what appears to be a black homemade face covering.   He was carrying a white plastic bag with green handles.

Detective Inspector Craig Joel said: ‘the crime is brazen and confronting, and affects not only the staff members involved, but local customers using the shop’.

‘It is possible the man has dropped the gun and the bag and residents in the nearby area to the Bottleshop are asked to check their yards and report anything out of place to police.

The man ran down nearby Cadbury Road.  He may have used a car but this is not confirmed.  Glenorchy CIB detectives and uniform police are investigating.
